Overview
- Anza recommended the Agave 4.2 validator client for general mainnet adoption but the planned Aug. 17 activation window passed without confirmed mainnet activation epochs for core gates.
- Anza’s feature-gate tracker showed the early slot-time reductions for 350 ms and 300 ms as pending on mainnet, and the Solana Foundation’s rent overview listed all five rent gates as inactive.
- The update that would raise v1 transaction payloads from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes has no confirmed activation, with the larger legacy and v0 limits remaining unchanged until a gate reports a mainnet epoch.
- Because Solana uses staged feature gates, the advertised package — roughly 90% lower rent, 200 ms slots, and larger v1 transactions — will not be guaranteed in production until each gate lists a mainnet activation epoch.
- Agave 4.2 contains test code for the Alpenglow consensus overhaul but Alpenglow itself is scheduled for Agave 4.3 targeted for October 2026, leaving finality improvements and broader performance gains for a later upgrade.
