  • Security officials said the disturbance at the Aguaruto facility was quickly contained with no injuries and was classified as a conato.
  • State and federal forces secured the perimeter while Policía Estatal Preventiva units entered the prison to restore order.
  • Inspectors reported seizing five 9 mm pistols with loaded magazines, two .45 caliber pistols, additional magazines, and 29 rounds of ammunition.
  • Authorities also confiscated 110 doses of suspected cocaine, 22 packages of marijuana, a modem, and two radios, turning the evidence over to ministerial investigators.
  • The episode follows an August 15 clash at the same prison that left three inmates injured and a prior search that uncovered firearms, ammunition, phones, and radios.
