AFP sues Elon Musk's X over refusal to negotiate payment for news content

AFP has filed a lawsuit against X (formerly Twitter) for not discussing compensation for news content under EU copyright law.
The lawsuit is based on France's implementation of EU "neighboring rights", requiring platforms to negotiate payment with publishers.
AFP is seeking an injunction to get X to provide information to determine appropriate remuneration.
Google previously reached deals to compensate French publishers after facing fines for noncompliance.
Elon Musk responded by questioning why AFP wants payment when it already earns ad revenue from its site.
