- The AFL completed its purchase of Waverley Park from Hawthorn Football Club on June 24 for an undisclosed eight-figure sum well below $20 million.

- Waverley Park is heritage listed and was home to 732 AFL/VFL matches, including 70 finals and one Grand Final between 1970 and 1999.
- Hawthorn will relocate its training and administrative base to a new $100 million facility at the Kennedy Community Centre in Dingley later this year.
