Affidavit: Fremont Man Used Megan's Law, Disguise to Kill 71-Year-Old Sex Offender

Court filings depict premeditation through a door-to-door ruse, phone screenshots, admissions of motive.

Overview

  • Varun Suresh, 29, is accused of fatally stabbing David Brimmer after locating his address on California’s Megan’s Law website.
  • Investigators say screenshots of multiple registrants, including Brimmer, were taken on Suresh’s phone about 45 minutes before 11:57 a.m. 911 calls.
  • Police say Suresh posed as an accountant, confronted Brimmer, then chased him into a neighbor’s home before stabbing him in the neck and slitting his throat outside.
  • After his arrest, Suresh allegedly told officers he did not plan to flee, hoped the killing “should be cool,” and described it as “really fun,” according to the affidavit.
  • Officers recovered a knife at the scene, and Suresh has been charged with murder; records also note a 2021 false bomb-threat case reported by KTVU.
