AfD's Daniel Münschke Elected Brandenburg State Parliament Vice President

After failing in the first round, Münschke secured the position in a second vote, marking AfD's return to the Landtag's vice-presidency.

  • Daniel Münschke, an AfD representative, won the vice-presidential role with 41 out of 86 valid votes in the Brandenburg Parliament.
  • In the initial vote, Münschke did not achieve the required majority, receiving 37 votes in favor and 39 against, with 10 abstentions.
  • The Brandenburg Parliament's presidium agreed on three vice-presidential positions to ensure representation from all factions.
  • The AfD faction in Brandenburg is under scrutiny by the state's Verfassungsschutz as a right-wing extremist suspect, but Münschke has not been individually classified as such.
  • Alongside Münschke, Jouleen Gruhn from BSW and Rainer Genilke from CDU were also elected as vice presidents in the first round.
