AfD Inherits Nearly €6 Million and Properties in Berlin

The far-right German party's 2023 financial report reveals a significant inheritance from a Berlin multimillionaire, boosting its net assets to €38.3 million.

  • The Alternative for Germany (AfD) received €5.96 million in 2023 from the estate of Helga Schwab, a former party donor from Berlin-Dahlem.
  • The party also acquired two Berlin properties valued at €2 million and €2.15 million, though it remains unclear if these were part of Schwab’s inheritance.
  • The AfD’s net assets increased by €14.8 million in 2023, rising from €23.5 million in 2022 to €38.3 million, according to its financial report.
  • The inheritance follows other large donations to the AfD, including €1.5 million from entrepreneur Winfried Stöcker and €2.35 million from former FPÖ official Gerhard Dingler.
  • This is not the first major inheritance for the AfD; in 2018, the party received €7 million in assets from another supporter’s estate.
