AfD Hits INSA Record at 26.5%, Leads Union as Governing Support Erodes

The latest INSA snapshot leaves the governing bloc short of a majority with several minor parties below the 5 percent hurdle.

Overview

  • In the Oct. 2–6 INSA poll (n=2,010, online), AfD rises to 26.5% while the Union slips to 24.5%, a two‑point gap.
  • SPD falls to 14.5%, putting the Union–SPD coalition at roughly 39% support, below a parliamentary majority.
  • Die Linke edges ahead of the Greens at 11.5% to 11.0%, as BSW (4%) and FDP (3.5%) remain under the Bundestag threshold.
  • INSA reports AfD’s ‘safe’ voter share at 21%, topping the Union’s 18% and SPD’s 9%, even as AfD leaders poll poorly on personal popularity.
  • A separate Forsa survey for RTL/ntv shows AfD at 26% and the Union at 24%, alongside a new low in approval for Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
