AFA’s LPF Play Posts Strong Start as Reports Float Free, All-Competitions Plan

Early viewership figures underscore the platform’s push to broaden coverage beyond Buenos Aires.

Overview

  • LPF Play is live on web, mobile and smart TVs, streaming lower divisions, women’s matches and futsal with multi-camera, TV-style production.
  • Across its first three weeks, the service reported 455,000 unique users, 3.3 million video views with 90% live, and 863,000 hours watched over 175 live matches.
  • AFA-linked sources and Liga Córdobesa treasurer Emeterio Farías said a plan is being considered to make every AFA tournament free on the platform in a return-to–Fútbol para Todos model.
  • The free-access proposal remains unconfirmed and would have to contend with existing broadcast-rights agreements for the Liga Profesional and other competitions.
  • AFA also stated Federal A clubs will receive the same monthly TV-rights payments as Primera B Metropolitana teams, and it is working to add some Federal A fixtures to LPF Play.
