Aeva Launches Eve 1V Non-Contact Motion Sensor for Industrial Production Lines

Built on FMCW sensing, the device combines simultaneous range and velocity measurement with Class 1 eye safety to cut maintenance in high-speed operations.

Overview

  • Aeva announced the Eve 1V on September 10 as a high-precision, non-contact motion sensor for factory environments.
  • The FMCW-based unit measures lateral velocity, length, movement direction, and position with sub-millimeter-per-second accuracy, capturing range and velocity at the same time.
  • Aeva markets the sensor for packaging, printing, construction materials, and extrusion lines, covering both continuous materials and discrete goods.
  • Featuring a Class 1 eye-safe laser, Eve 1V is positioned to replace tactile measuring wheels and laser velocimeters and to reduce slippage errors common to wheel encoders.
  • Cofounder and CTO Mina Rezk said the product is intended to help manufacturers measure faster and more accurately without maintenance downtime.
