Overview

  • AESAN issued simultaneous alerts on August 1–2 after Catalan authorities detected Salmonella in BonArea’s Fuet Ibérico Extra (lot 6170199) and in four other fuet brands.
  • The recall covers BonArea’s Fuet Ibérico Extra and specific lots of Can Duran, Origin du Gout, La Tabla and Exentis fuets with best-before dates through September 2025.
  • Contaminated batches were distributed across eight Spanish regions—including Aragón, Cataluña, Madrid and Valencia—and exported to France, Portugal and Andorra.
  • Consumers are urged to check product labels, avoid consuming the affected lots and seek medical attention if they experience diarrhea, vomiting or fever.
  • Medical centers have been alerted to monitor for salmonellosis cases, especially among children, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals.
