Aeris Secures KDDI Renewal for IoT Accelerator Platform

Market confidence in Aeris’s post-2023 platform upgrades is shown by KDDI’s renewed use of the Aeris IoT Accelerator for large automotive and utilities deployments.

Overview

  • Aeris completed the connectivity management agreement with KDDI on Tuesday, June 16, formalising KDDI’s continued use of the platform it first deployed in 2017.
  • Aeris says the Aeris IoT Accelerator now manages 104 million IoT devices and 42 million connected vehicles and serves about 7,000 enterprise customers worldwide.
  • Since acquiring the platform from Ericsson in early 2023, Aeris invested in cloudification, performance upgrades, expanded carrier partnerships, and integrated security and diagnostics.
  • Key platform features highlighted in the deal include unified global connectivity orchestration, comprehensive device lifecycle management, and advanced eSIM orchestration to simplify cross-border deployments and billing.
  • The renewal demonstrates that large enterprise IoT programs can survive a mid-stream ownership change and could speed wider multi-country rollouts for automakers and utilities in the faster-growing Asia Pacific market.
