- A shift early in 2026 is expected as high pressure retreats and Atlantic systems bring widespread rain—first in the Canary Islands on January 1 and likely reaching the western peninsula from January 2—with higher totals in the western third, Pyrenees, Alborán and the Canaries and mountain snow.
