Advance polls for the upcoming federal election will be open this weekend and there are predictions that what's expected to be a close race, could lead to strong voter turnout.

Overview

  • Advance polls are open April 18–21 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with early voting at Elections Canada offices and mail-in options available until April 22.
  • Voters must be Canadian citizens aged 18 or older and provide government-issued photo ID or two acceptable forms of identification, one with an address.
  • Redrawn electoral boundaries in Alberta, including three new ridings, are expected to make several races, such as Calgary Confederation and Calgary McKnight, highly competitive.
  • Strong voter turnout is anticipated in advance polls, driven by close races both nationally and in key Alberta ridings.
  • Elections Canada advises voters to check their registration status and polling locations online or by phone, and suggests voting early in the day to avoid lines.
