Overview
- Assam down town University held its 13th convocation on Friday at the Panikhaiti campus and conferred 1,885 degrees to 1,427 undergraduates, 436 postgraduates and 22 Ph.D. scholars, including 95 international students from eight countries.
- The university honoured high achievers with gold medals and the Governor’s medal and conferred an honorary D.Litt. on business leader Sarat Kumar Jain for his contributions to industry.
- The Vice Chancellor reported placement progress from the past year, citing 125 on-campus placement drives and a job‑cum‑internship fair with more than 200 companies that helped 961 graduates secure employment while 234 students moved on to higher studies.
- Research and innovation metrics were emphasised with claims of ₹16 crore in extramural funding, 415 published papers, 33 published patents and seven granted patents, plus support for 59 student innovation teams and four student start-ups through NIDHI and TIDE-linked incubator efforts.
- Founded in 2010, AdtU has now awarded 11,218 degrees across thirteen convocations and used the ceremony, attended by state minister Keshab Mahanta and industry representatives, to underline its growing role linking higher education, industry and regional development in Northeast India.
