- ADR’s August 22 analysis of 30 current chief ministers, excluding Manipur under President’s Rule, pegs total declared assets at Rs 1,632 crore with an average of Rs 54.42 crore.
- Pema Khandu places second with assets of about Rs 332 crore, making him and N. Chandrababu Naidu the only billionaire-level chief ministers in the dataset.
- Mamata Banerjee’s declared assets stand at roughly Rs 15.38 lakh from her 2021 Bhowanipore affidavit, which lists no immovable property and small cash, bank and jewellery holdings.
- Her declared wealth has declined from about Rs 30.4 lakh in 2016, while other low-asset leaders include Omar Abdullah at about Rs 55.24 lakh and Pinarayi Vijayan at roughly Rs 1.18 crore.
- After the report, TDP sources said Naidu’s wealth reflects the market value of shares held by his wife Nara Bhuvaneswari in Heritage Foods, the listed company he founded in 1992.
