Adobe Launches Photoshop, Express and Acrobat Inside ChatGPT for Free

The launch puts core editing features inside ChatGPT to lower skill barriers for quick creative and document tasks.

Overview

  • Photoshop, Acrobat and Adobe Express are live inside ChatGPT on desktop, web and iOS starting Dec. 10, with Express on Android now and Photoshop/Acrobat Android support coming soon; the rollout excludes the EU and UK at launch.
  • Users invoke the apps by naming them with a request alongside an uploaded file, after which the app persists in the thread and can surface contextual controls like sliders; sign‑in is required for Express and Acrobat, while key Photoshop tools work without sign‑in.
  • The ChatGPT versions offer focused capabilities rather than full parity: Photoshop can edit specific regions, adjust brightness/contrast/exposure and apply effects; Acrobat can edit, merge, compress and convert PDFs or extract text/tables; Express can generate, customize and animate designs.
  • Work started in ChatGPT can be opened in Adobe’s web apps with edits preserved as editable layers, enabling a smooth handoff for deeper, non‑destructive editing.
  • Adobe says it does not train its generative models on customer content used with these integrations, while data in ChatGPT is governed by OpenAI’s terms and users can opt out of OpenAI training in privacy settings.
