- Adobe unveiled the AI Assisted Editor beta on Thursday, August 27, 2026, offering a toggle that opens a simplified, prompt-first editing workspace inside Photoshop.
- The mode groups existing generative features — Prompt to Edit, Generative Fill, Generative Expand, Generative Upscale, Remove Background, and Remove Tool — into a single toolbar for faster, text-driven edits.
- New markup and prompt-masked edit controls let users roughly draw or select regions and give natural-language instructions so Firefly makes targeted changes without precise manual masking.
- Adobe says Firefly Image 5 better understands full-image context and the prompt tools can use multiple generative models, including FLUX variants, Gemini versions, GPT Image 2, and Adobe’s model.
- Adobe also rolled out non-destructive light-adjustment layers and a dockable Adobe Stock panel with more than 900 million assets, and it presents the AI editor as optional so professionals can keep the Pro Editor workflow.
