Overview
- PRI leader Alejandro Moreno said he filed complaints in Washington with the U.S. Attorney General, Treasury, the DEA and the FBI accusing Senator Adán Augusto López Hernández of organized crime links, fuel theft, smuggling and money laundering.
- López Hernández rejected the allegations as “mafufadas,” insisted he will not leave his Senate seat for an embassy post, and challenged claims about protected-witness testimony, citing investigative secrecy rules.
- Moreno showcased a “Cártel de Macuspana” slide naming senior figures including President López Obrador and also alleged Senator Carlos Lomelí is under DEA investigation, a claim Lomelí has publicly disputed.
- In a related prosecution, a Tabasco judge linked former state security chief Hernán Bermúdez Requena to trial for organized-crime association, aggravated kidnapping and extortion, ordering him held at the Altiplano prison with three months for additional investigation.
- Tabasco’s government said Bermúdez’s asset declaration is reserved until 2030 but asserted the secrecy does not hinder ongoing inquiries or the work of investigators.
