Admiral Taverns to Acquire 21 RedCat Leased Pubs in Portfolio Shift

RedCat pivots toward its pubs-with-rooms model following a year of reported recovery.

Overview

  • The agreement transfers 21 leased and tenanted sites from RedCat Hospitality to Admiral Taverns, adding to Admiral’s nationwide estate of roughly 1,350 community pubs.
  • York’s Beeswing Ale House and the Plough Inn in Fulford are among the pubs changing hands, alongside four Essex sites: The Five Bells (Colne Engaine), The Lion (Earls Colne), The Anchor Inn (Benfleet) and The Castle (Great Leighs).
  • RedCat says the sale enables greater focus on its managed operations and pub-with-rooms strategy, including the Coaching Inn Group.
  • Admiral CEO Chris Jowsey says the portfolio complements the existing estate and that new licensees and colleagues will receive support.
  • Some coverage reports RedCat plans up to £12 million of reinvestment this year as it builds carveries and accommodation, a figure attributed to tabloid reporting.
