The process moves into public consultation required by the Railway Sector Law.

Overview

  • The proposal outlines up to 72 new daily services distributed as 32 for MadridGalicia, 24 for MadridAsturias/Cantabria and 16 for MadridCádiz/Huelva.
  • The next step is a CNMC report preceding a modification of the Declaración sobre la Red that will fix time bands, the calendar and the selection rules.
  • Adif expects operators to request capacity in 2026, with multi-year framework agreements targeted for late 2027 to provide legal certainty and support timetable planning.
  • Mixed international and Iberian gauges on parts of the corridors raise rolling-stock requirements, with Iryo signaling interest in Galicia while recent market shifts include a Trainline-reported 40% year-on-year fare rise on MadridBarcelona after Renfe withdrew Avlo.
