Overview
- Adif opened the tender on July 28 for drafting and supervising improvement designs of the 96 km Ourense–Guillarei section with a base budget of €5.98 million and a 42-month execution period.
- The design phase will split the line into three blocks—Ourense-Filgueira (38 km), Filgueira-Arbo (24 km) and Arbo-Guillarei including the 800 m Guillarei node—to manage technical complexity.
- Projects will define infrastructure overhauls and track renewal measures, covering trench and embankment upgrades, full material replacement and harmonization to 25 kV electrification.
- Parallel studies will configure sidings for 750 m trains at Barbantes, Filgueira and Salvaterra and rationalize station layouts to improve operational capacity.
- This tender marks the final phase of a €265 million investment to adapt the Miño Corridor to European Atlantic standards and reinforce Galicia–Portugal rail connectivity.
