ADGM Designates USDT as Accepted Fiat‑Referenced Token Across Nine Blockchains

The designation lets FSRA‑licensed firms provide supervised USDT services across trading, custody, settlement and asset servicing inside the market.

Overview

  • Tether’s USDT now carries ADGM recognition for regulated use on Aptos, Celo, Cosmos, Kaia, Near, Polkadot, Tezos, TON and TRON.
  • The multi‑chain approval expands prior ADGM permissions limited to Ethereum, Solana and Avalanche.
  • Only authorized entities inside the Abu Dhabi Global Market can deploy USDT in regulated activities, under oversight from the FSRA.
  • The move follows ADGM recognition of Ripple’s RLUSD and full FSRA authorization for Binance, with regulated operations scheduled to start on January 5, 2026.
  • Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino welcomed the decision as validation of the UAE’s regulatory approach, as Abu Dhabi advances a supervised crypto hub and a separate dirham‑pegged stablecoin proposal awaits UAE Central Bank approval.
