Adele to Make Feature Acting Debut in Tom Ford’s Cry to Heaven

Ford will self-finance the Anne Rice adaptation, set to begin filming in January 2026 for a planned fall release.

Overview

  • Ford’s production company confirmed Adele’s casting alongside a large ensemble including Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Thandiwe Newton and Hunter Schafer.
  • The project is in pre-production in London and Rome, with principal photography scheduled to start in mid-January 2026.
  • Ford wrote the screenplay, will direct and produce through his Fade To Black banner, and plans to shop the self-financed film to distributors after completion.
  • The period drama adapts Anne Rice’s 1982 novel set in the operatic world of 18th-century Italy.
  • Specific roles, including Adele’s character, have not been announced, and the film will be Ford’s third feature and his first since 2016’s Nocturnal Animals.
