Adani Power’s Anuppur Award Doubles to 1,600 MW as Madhya Pradesh Uses Greenshoe Option

The award fixes a Rs 5.838 per kWh tariff with both 800 MW units targeted for commissioning within 60 months under a DBFOO contract.

Overview

  • MP Power Management Company awarded an additional 800 MW to Adani Power through a greenshoe option, taking the Anuppur project to 1,600 MW in what filings describe as a first for an Indian power tender.
  • The new allotment carries the same Rs 5.838 per kWh tariff as the initial 800 MW and will be developed on a Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate basis with coal linkage under the SHAKTI policy.
  • Adani targets commissioning both 800 MW ultra‑supercritical units within 60 months from the appointed date with an estimated investment of about Rs 21,000 crore for the plant and associated infrastructure.
  • Power from the greenfield plant will supply Madhya Pradesh distribution companies, with the company stating it expects to execute the Power Supply Agreement in due course.
  • This is the company’s fifth major order in 12 months, lifting total awarded capacity to 7,200 MW, while Adani also progresses a 570 MW Wangchhu hydro project in Bhutan under a recently signed shareholders agreement.
