Adani Power Awarded 25-Year Bihar Contract for 2,400 MW Pirpainti Plant

The award moves the Pirpainti coal project toward execution with a power supply pact to be finalized next.

  • BSPGCL issued the Letter of Award for a 25-year supply on behalf of NBPDCL and SBPDCL, with a Power Supply Agreement to follow.
  • Adani won the tariff-based bid with a quoted price of ₹6.075 per kWh.
  • Electricity will come from a new 3×800 MW ultra-supercritical plant at Pirpainti to be developed on a DBFOO/DBFOM basis.
  • Fuel will be provided through a coal linkage arranged under Para B(IV) of the SHAKTI policy.
  • The company estimates about $3 billion in investment and cites 10,000–12,000 jobs during construction and roughly 3,000 in operations.
