Adani Calls on CareEdge to Build Credit Framework for Platform Infrastructure

He says a model that measures ecosystem multipliers, adjacency value, strategic resilience could change how lenders and investors assess large ports, renewables and industrial hubs

Overview

  • Gautam Adani urged CareEdge on Monday, Aug 31, 2026 to develop what he described as the world’s first Credit Framework for Integrated Platform Infrastructure to value interconnected projects beyond single-asset cash flows.
  • Adani argued that conventional rating models miss the wider economic spillovers of platform projects and used Mundra, Vizhinjam and Khavda as examples of assets that create new demand and industrial ecosystems.
  • He cited performance and targets presented in his speech, saying Vizhinjam handled about 1.3 million TEUs in its first year and crossed 2 million TEUs within 18 months with plans to expand to 5.7 million TEUs by December 2028, and that Khavda had 9.4 GW operational as of March 31, 2026 with a 30 GW target by 2029.
  • Adani stressed the call was not for lower standards but for dynamic analytical tools that recognise how energy, land, data centres, cooling and transmission underpin large-scale AI and manufacturing, and he asked CareEdge to lead the work.
  • There is no public sign that CareEdge or other rating agencies have adopted the proposal so far and the idea is shaping a policy and analytic debate that could affect how investors, lenders and policymakers judge transformational infrastructure in India.
