Overview
- Adani Airports confirmed a phased Rs 10,000 crore programme to expand Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport with a focus on capacity, technology and cargo infrastructure.
- The operator has already deployed Rs 2,401 crore on a new terminal and landside roads as the airport currently handles about 8 million passengers a year.
- Terminal 3, Phase 2 is underway with an additional outlay of roughly Rs 900 crore to raise annual capacity to 14 million by 2026–27.
- A parallel taxi track targeted for next year is expected to increase hourly air traffic movements from 17 to 24, with runway recarpeting and lighting upgrades already completed.
- A proposed runway extension from 2,744 m to 3,514 m requires about 58.05 acres and carries an estimated Rs 180 crore cost, while a planned cargo terminal aims for roughly 50,000 metric tonnes a year within five years and new routes such as Vietnam and Singapore are being pursued.
