AdAmAn Club Begins Pikes Peak Ascent for New Year Fireworks

Overview

• The group set out Tuesday morning from Manitou Springs on Barr Trail and plans to overnight at Barr Camp before summiting Wednesday.
• This year's inductee is McReynolds "Mac" Sommers, a third-generation member following family additions in 1963 and 1988.
• A mirror flash toward Colorado Springs is scheduled between 10 and 10:30 a.m., followed by a commemorative 9 p.m. sendoff and the midnight show welcoming 2026.
• Colorado Springs is hosting paid, escorted viewing at Crystal Reservoir that sold out, with access beginning at 10:30 p.m. and on-site talks, food and souvenirs.
• The club has led the summit fireworks since 1922 and typically adds one new member each year, with only a few noted exceptions.
