Adam Thielen Retires After 13 NFL Seasons, Ending Career With Steelers

The Minnesota native rose from an undrafted tryout to a two-time Pro Bowler and a top-five receiver in Vikings history.

  • Thielen announced his decision on Instagram on Jan. 14, two days after Pittsburgh’s 30-6 wild-card loss to Houston.
  • He finishes with 704 receptions, 8,497 yards and 64 touchdowns across 178 regular-season games.
  • Signed by Minnesota as an undrafted free agent in 2013, he earned Pro Bowl selections in 2017 and 2018 and a second-team All-Pro nod in 2017.
  • With the Vikings, he ranks fourth in receptions (542), fifth in receiving yards (6,751) and third in receiving touchdowns (55).
  • After a 1,014-yard season with Carolina in 2023, he was traded back to Minnesota in 2025, waived at his request for more snaps and claimed by Pittsburgh, where he logged 11 catches for 117 yards before the postseason exit.
