Adam Siao Him Fa and Hana Yoshida Triumph at Cup of China, Qualify for Grand Prix Final

Siao Him Fa upstages two-time world champion Shoma Uno, while 18-year-old Yoshida secures her first career Grand Prix title.

  • Adam Siao Him Fa of France won the gold medal in the men's event at the Cup of China, overcoming a 14-point deficit from the short program with a dazzling free skate that included four quadruple jumps.
  • Siao Him Fa's victory, his second consecutive win, secured his qualification for the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Beijing.
  • Shoma Uno of Japan, the two-time defending world champion, fell on his opening quad toe-loop and could only manage a double flip on a planned quad flip, finishing second with a total of 279.98 points.
  • 18-year-old Hana Yoshida of Japan won the women's competition, her first career Grand Prix title, despite stepping out of her opening triple axel. She finished with a total of 203.97 points.
  • In the ice dance competition, Canadians Piper Gilles and Paul Poirer came back from being a point down after rhythm dance to win the free dance and take first place, qualifying for the GP final.
