'Average Height, Average Build', which was set to star Robert Pattinson, Amy Adams, and Robert Downey Jr., was a part serial killer-thriller, part comedy, following a killer who uses political lobbyists to change laws to make it easier for him to kill.
Despite a high-profile cast and McKay's awards track record, 'Average Height, Average Build' had difficulty finding a home, with multiple studios passing on the project due to budget reasons or issues with the dark subject matter.
McKay has been an outspoken advocate for climate change, and earlier this year he launched the nonprofit Yellow Dot Studios to create videos and other materials aimed at raising public understanding of the climate emergency.
It is currently unclear how McKay will approach the topic of climate change in his new project, and whether Netflix will be involved.
