Adam Gordon Officially Sworn In as U.S. Attorney for Southern District of California

Adam Gordon, a career prosecutor and expert in combating the fentanyl epidemic, was officially sworn in as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California on April 11, 2025.
The appointment was made by Attorney General Pamela Bondi, with U.S. District Court Chief Judge Cynthia A. Bashant administering the oath of office.
In his remarks, Gordon highlighted priorities such as securing the U.S.-Mexico border, prosecuting cartel leaders, and addressing organized crime under Operation Take Back America.
Gordon's career includes creating the Fentanyl Abatement and Suppression Team (FAST), a multi-agency task force targeting fentanyl distributors, which has become a national model.
The Southern District of California, one of the busiest federal districts, includes San Diego and Imperial counties and is a critical region for addressing border and drug-related challenges.
