ADAC Unveils XT1, a Tech-Open Rulebook for 1,000-PS Electric-Drive Racers

Manufacturers are invited to help finalize regulations by 2026, with testing to precede potential races in the next decade.

Overview

  • Presented at the DTM finale in Hockenheim, XT1 outlines a manufacturer-specific multi-purpose chassis powered by four standardized electric motors delivering more than 1,000 PS.
  • Entrants could choose the energy source for the motors, including e-fuel or hydrogen combustion, battery storage, or fuel cells, under a single technical framework.
  • ADAC proposes a Balance of Technology system using standardized electronics, inverters, transmission and a central control unit, plus aero windows, weight measures and joint wind‑tunnel tests.
  • The sporting vision targets GT3-level lap times at roughly 1,600 kg with low downforce, no ABS or ESP, standing starts, and potential features such as push-to-pass or an air brake.
  • XT1 is positioned as a globally adaptable regulation concept that complements existing classes, with cost targets at GT3 levels and no manufacturers yet formally committed.
