ADAC Reports Record 2024 Pannenhilfe Calls as Vehicle Age and E-Auto Pannen Surge

Germany's ADAC responded to over 3.6 million breakdowns in 2024, citing aging vehicles and a sharp rise in electric vehicle issues.

ADAC recorded a 2.9% increase in breakdown assistance calls in 2024, totaling over 3.6 million nationwide, with January being the busiest month.
Defective or discharged batteries accounted for 45% of all breakdowns, making it the leading cause of roadside assistance requests.
Electric vehicle breakdowns surged by 46% compared to 2023, with over 43,600 incidents, primarily due to battery-related issues.
The rise in breakdowns correlates with the increasing average age of vehicles in Germany, now at 10.6 years, the highest on record.
ADAC also reported an 8% rise in calls from cyclists, with over two-thirds of bike-related issues stemming from flat tires.
