ADAC Flags Two Child Car Seats as Unsafe After Euro NCAP–Level Crash Tests

Both models carry UN ECE R129 approval, prompting advice to avoid purchase pending ADAC’s full 21 October report.

Overview

  • ADAC rated the Chipolino Olympus i-Size and Reecle 360 (ZA10 i-Size) as “mangelhaft” following frontal-impact evaluations.
  • In testing, the Chipolino seat’s shell detached despite four fasteners, propelling the shell forward with an 11 kilogram dummy.
  • The Reecle seat separated from its rotating base during a 15 kilogram dummy test, remaining on the top tether yet presenting a high injury risk.
  • ADAC conducts Euro NCAP–level assessments that exceed the legally required UN ECE R129 standard both seats still meet.
  • ADAC urges parents not to use or buy these models, notes manufacturers had not issued statements, and schedules full results for 21 October.
