Overview
- Traffic is expected to be heaviest on Friday morning for the Unity Day holiday and again on Sunday, while Saturday should be comparatively quiet.
- To ease flows, a driving ban for heavy goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes is in effect on German autobahns on Friday.
- German hotspots flagged by ADAC include A5, A6, A8 and A81 in the southwest and A3, A6, A7, A8, A9, A93, A95/B2 and A99 in Bavaria, with Munich traffic further pressured by Oktoberfest.
- Austria’s motorway operator warns of long delays on the A9, A10, A12 and A13, with likely queues at toll stations and border checks, including St. Michael im Lungau, the Karawankentunnel, the Innsbruck area and the Luegbrücke approach.
- ASFINAG will repair the Luegbrücke from 6–17 October, leaving only one lane per direction during the day and potentially adding to post‑weekend congestion on the Brenner corridor.
