Acura Ends ZDX EV Production After One Model Year

The company cites market conditions, pivoting to an in-house RSX from its Ohio EV hub in 2026.

Overview

  • Honda confirmed all future ZDX production is canceled, including 2026 units that were set to start this month at GM’s Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
  • The Ultium-based crossover shared hardware with the Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Blazer EV and Honda Prologue under a GMHonda program that wound down in 2023.
  • About 19,000 ZDXs have been sold since 2024, with dealers resorting to steep discounts reported between roughly $21,000 and $30,000 off MSRP as sales softened.
  • Acura says ZDX owners will receive full service, parts and warranty support, and Honda’s Prologue will continue in production in Mexico.
  • The move comes days before the federal EV tax credit expires on September 30 and as regulatory pressure loosens, timing noted by multiple outlets.
