Actor Mario Rodriguez Sues Tyler Perry for Sexual Assault, Seeks $77 Million

Perry’s attorney calls the California filing a money grab.

Overview

  • Rodriguez filed a civil complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court alleging multiple assaults over several years, including a 2018 incident in which Perry allegedly grabbed his genitals.
  • The suit includes claims of sexual assault, sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress and says Perry twice paid Rodriguez $5,000 after alleged encounters.
  • Lionsgate, distributor of Boo! A Madea Halloween, is named as a defendant for allegedly ignoring misconduct, while the studio did not immediately comment.
  • The complaint says Rodriguez met Perry through a trainer at an Equinox gym, later received a minor role as “Frat Guy #10,” and was invited to private meetings framed as career discussions.
  • This is the second recent lawsuit against Perry, following Derek Dixon’s June case now in federal court in Georgia, with both plaintiffs represented by attorney Jonathan J. Delshad.
