Actor Devin Harjes Dies at 41 from Cancer Complications

His family has asked for donations to TKC Blessings to fund scholarships for children pursuing the arts in his memory.

Overview

  • Harjes died on May 27 at Mount Sinai West Hospital in New York City after a brief battle with cancer diagnosed in February.
  • He was best known for playing boxer Jack Dempsey in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, Oscar in Netflix’s Daredevil and Pete Baylor in NBC’s Manifest.
  • Born in Lubbock, Texas, Harjes moved to New York City to study acting and built his early career in off-Broadway productions and independent films.
  • Outside of acting, he was a dedicated martial arts practitioner, a regular gymgoer and maintained a lifelong bond with animals.
  • He is survived by his parents, Randy and Rosanne Harjes; his sister, Trish Harjes; his former wife, Shiva Shobitha; and other family members.
