Overview
- Polling is under way in 21 Azad Jammu and Kashmir constituencies with voting scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 1,483 polling stations and 2,219 booths set up for more than 1.2 million voters.
- Election teams reported delays and access problems at many stations, and party leaders have filed written complaints asking the Election Commission to publish polling records and hear disputes in open session.
- Party officials say Acting President Choudhary Latif Akbar was physically attacked during voting and the PPP has named Yasser Shah, Ahmed Shah and Fawad Shah in an FIR that it says is being filed.
- The AJK prime minister has taken notice of the attack and ordered the chief secretary and inspector general to apprehend those responsible while security forces maintain heightened deployments at sensitive polling sites.
- Other government activity on the same day included Punjab flood relief inspections, a nationwide NCCIA crackdown that led to 27 arrests for financial cyber fraud, and federal plans to reform the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, which together frame how institutions are responding to election-day strains.
