• Maverick Vinales marked his injury return with fourth for Tech3 KTM, while Honda wildcard Aleix Espargaro placed ninth.
• Francesco Bagnaia suffered technical issues and ended FP1 23rd, more than 1.5s off the pace, without switching to fresh tyres.
• Daniel Holgado led Moto2 FP1 and Jose Antonio Rueda set the pace in Moto3 as the junior classes opened the Catalan weekend.
