Accor Reveals Reborn Orient Express at Paris Art Deco Exhibition

Restored 1920s carriages recovered on the PolandBelarus border anchor a design that blends preserved Art Deco craftsmanship with modern technology.

  • Accor presented the first images at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs’ “1925–2025: A Century of Art Deco” exhibition in Paris, where the train features as a principal exhibit.
  • The revived service is scheduled to begin operations in 2027.
  • Orient Express historian Arthur Mettetal located 17 original 1920s carriages using Google Maps and 3D satellite imagery before they were repatriated from the PolandBelarus border.
  • French ateliers including Rinck, Ateliers Jouffre and the Tapestry Manufacture of Burgundy are restoring the carriages, preserving Morrison & Nelson marquetry and Lalique glasswork.
  • Architect Maxime d’Angeac leads a redesign involving 30 master artisans, as Accor expands the Orient Express brand with launches in 2025 and planned Venice and yacht debuts in 2026.
