Accidental Blaze Extinguished at Jaguar Land Rover’s Castle Bromwich Plant

Crews remain on site to monitor hotspots at the key manufacturing facility that recently received a £41 million investment.

Overview

  • The fire broke out at around 8:15 am in a block at the Castle Bromwich plant and was fully extinguished by 9:30 am.
  • West Midlands Fire Service deployed about 50 firefighters with eight engines, three 4×4 response vehicles and a hydraulic aerial platform to tackle the blaze.
  • Fire investigators have concluded the fire was accidental and no injuries were reported by ambulance crews at the scene.
  • One fire engine and its crew are staying on site to support staff with ventilation and extinguishing remaining hotspots.
  • The Castle Bromwich plant employs 3,200 people and had recently been upgraded for special vehicle paint operations following a £41 million investment.
