ACC Names New Chiefs for CISF and ITBP

The DoPT order sets fixed tenures matching each officer’s retirement date.

Overview

  • Praveer Ranjan, a 1993-batch IPS officer from the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force.
  • Praveen Kumar, a 1993-batch IPS officer from the West Bengal cadre and Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau, will lead the Indo-Tibetan Border Police.
  • The appointments take effect upon assumption of charge, succeeding Rajwinder Singh Bhatti at CISF and Rahul Rasgotra at ITBP, both retiring on September 30, 2025.
  • Ranjan’s term is approved up to July 31, 2029, and Kumar’s up to September 30, 2030, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
  • The ACC approved the Home Ministry’s proposals, ensuring continuity in oversight of critical infrastructure security and the Sino-India border.
