Overview

• A Department of Personnel and Training order dated September 14 sets Khare's re-employment on a contract for up to three years from assumption of charge, in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India under standard terms.
• The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment, with the government notification circulated to the Cabinet Secretary, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, and the Secretary to the President.
• Khare has been serving as Adviser to the Prime Minister since October 12, 2021, handling social-sector matters in the Prime Minister's Office.
• His career includes stints as Secretary, Information & Broadcasting; Secretary, School Education & Literacy; and Secretary, Higher Education, with a role on the National Education Policy 2020 core team and earlier recognition for helping expose the Bihar fodder scam.
• The ACC also approved 2014-batch Kerala-cadre IAS officer Chandrasekar S as private secretary to Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan.
