ACB Jammu Charges Former Tribal Affairs Director and Institutes in Scholarship Scam

Overview

  • The ACB registered FIR No. 09/2025 on May 26 under sections 5(1)(c)(d), 5(2) of the J&K PC Act and 120-B RPC against M.S. Choudhary and seven institute owners for gross guideline violations
  • Investigation indicates scholarship funds worth crores were disbursed from 2014 to 2018 to institutes lacking NIELIT accreditation for unrecognized courses
  • Verification found many ST candidates named in claims neither enrolled in nor attended the computer courses for which fees were paid
  • Some maintenance allowances were routed into fake bank accounts opened in students’ names without their consent or knowledge
  • The ACB has said its probe into the alleged conspiracy and abuse of official position remains ongoing
