ACB Finds Multiple Irregularities at Korutla Transport Office

A surprise ACB inspection documented multiple breaches, including unauthorized staff duties, agent-driven excess payments, weak recordkeeping, substandard test facilities that risk the integrity of vehicle registration.

Overview

  • The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau’s Karimnagar Range carried out a surprise check of the Korutla Regional Transport Authority unit and examined records, transactions, challans and pending applications.
  • Inspectors found a transport constable, N. Girish Kumar, performing Motor Vehicle Inspector tasks such as conducting driving tests and checking registrations without the MVI present.
  • The ACB reported that agents had unrestricted access to the office and that staff allegedly collected excess amounts from the public through these agents in exchange for favours.
  • The check also exposed poor maintenance of registers, lack of supervisory oversight and a driving-test track that lacked signboards and failed to meet Transport Department standards.
  • The ACB has publicly recorded these findings but the available coverage does not report any follow-up actions, disciplinary steps or official response from the Transport Department or RTA.
