Overview
- Senior inspector Chandrakant Sarode, 52, and PSI Rahul Waghmode, 37, of Wadala TT police station were caught accepting cash in an ACB sting.
- Investigators recovered Rs 2,00,000 intended for Sarode and Rs 30,000 taken by Waghmode during Friday's trap after earlier verification.
- The complainant says the officers sought Rs 5 lakh for Sarode, later negotiated to Rs 4 lakh, and Rs 50,000 for Waghmode to keep his daughter out of an FIR and target a rival group.
- Waghmode had allegedly taken an initial Rs 20,000 on September 10, after which the complainant approached the ACB.
- The case stems from a September 7 clash over a community hall that led to an FIR against the complainant, and the duo has been booked under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
