Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting Announce 2023

Five emerging screenwriters awarded $35,000 each for their compelling scripts, marking a significant step in their careers.

Brent Delaney, Harris McCabe, J. Miller, c. Craig Patterson, and Kayla Sun named winners of the 2023 Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting.
Each winner receives a $35,000 prize and mentorship from an Academy member to complete a feature-length screenplay.
A total of 5,599 scripts from 83 countries were submitted, highlighting the competition's global reach and prestige.
Winners' scripts cover diverse themes, from the AIDS crisis and medical marijuana movement to personal struggles with identity and love.
The awards ceremony and live read of selected scenes will take place on April 25 at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
